2 day Alpine Training July 24, 2021
A two-day introductory mountaineering course for alpine hiking and climbing.
An introductory mountaineering course for people who would like to explore the mountains safely. Spend the weekend learning about crampons, ice axes, self-arresting and trip planning. Learn skills on day 1, then refine them while attempting a summit on day 2.
**This is our most popular weekend alpine training course. Prior experience is not necessary**
This course is delivered in the Craigieburn Range, close to Castle Hill village. The course starts in Darfield (30 mins from Christchurch) at 7:30 am. We access the snow at Broken River or Mt Cheeseman ski field and drive to our lodge in Arthurs Pass at the end of the first day. The group and your instructor will decide the exact location for the second day during the trip planning session. It will vary depending on local weather and snow conditions.
The course finishes at 4 pm in Arthurs Pass or Castle Hill village (approx 1.5-2hrs from Christchurch airport).
This course is based out of our lodge in Arthur’s Pass Village. The lodge has bunk beds set up across 3 bedrooms and can sleep up to 20 people. It has a kitchen stocked with utensils, cookware, fridge, ovens. You will also be treated to power, bathroom facilities, hot showers and heating. All you need to bring is your sleeping bag, pillow and food.
**Your accommodation is included**
