Wader Training Course

A practical one-day wader safety course designed for those working in rivers, wetlands, and estuaries.

Overview

Our wader safety training courses are one day in duration. The course covers water safety and rescue skills for people that play or work around the water. It is a popular course for workplaces that have staff working in and around rivers, wetlands, estuaries and more.

Course Details

We offer this course on the Waimakariri River, located just north of Christchurch, only 15 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from the city centre. However, we are happy to conduct wader safety courses anywhere in New Zealand. If you are interested in organising a course in a location other than Christchurch, please contact our office.

All participants will need to bring a pair of waders to use for the day. A complete gear list for this wader safety course can be downloaded below.

Wader safety courses are available upon request. We highly recommend scheduling your course during the warmer months of summer, between October and March. While we can conduct wader and water safety courses at any time of year, participants tend to benefit more from the course in the summer. To book your course, please contact one of our friendly team members today.

We often customise courses like this one to suit the needs of different organisations. Some of our clients with customised courses include the Department of Conservation, National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research and Northland Regional Council. We can even combine this course with our river crossing course or flatwater kayaking course. If you would like to talk with someone about customising a course, drop us an email or give us a call to discuss your options.
