Nathanael Sage

Nathanael Sage

Before working with OENZ Nathanael was a Senior Sea Kayak Guide and Rock Climbing Instructor in Wellington and Lead Sea Kayak guide in Abel Tasman National Park as well as a glacier guide at Fox Glacier. Passionate about all things outdoors.

 

Qualifications & Awards:

Certificate in Outdoor Education, Tai Poutini Polytechnic, 2013. Diploma in Outdoor Instructing and Guiding, at Tai Poutini Polytechnic, 2014. NZOIA Rock Leader, NZOIA Abseil Leader, NZOIA Rock1, NZOIA Bush Leader, NZOIA Sea Kayak Leader, PHEC first aid, New Zealand Drivers License Class 1.

Nathanael is currently working overseas in Canada. We wish him all the best in this experience and look forward to him returning to work with OENZ when he gets back to NZ.

 

 

Francis Charlesworth

Francis Charlesworth

Francis has always had passion for being in the mountains, whether that’s tramping, rock climbing or mountaineering on the higher peaks. He has turned his passion into work and has worked for a number of years in the outdoor instructing industry.

Working in the U.K he has worked on many outdoor education courses, instructed climbing courses across Europe and lead expeditions to the greater ranges. Now in New Zealand he enjoys spending his time exploring the countries mountains and introducing new people to the sport.

 

Qualifications & Awards:

Mountaineering Instructor Award-Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing Instructor Award, British Canoeing Foundations Safety and Rescue. ITC outdoor specific first aid training.

 

 

 

Chris Prudden

Chris Prudden

Chris has a passion for the mountains spanning over 40 years, working in New Zealand, European Alps and Antarctica. Hi established the first professional alpine guiding service on Mt Taranaki with an astounding 1,320 ascents.

In recent years he has been based in Queenstown and has guided numerous  successful ascents in the Southern Lakes area. An alpine guide and instructor that has worked with school groups, film crews, environmental safety and as a private guid. Chris also spends some of his time with NZ Land SAR Alpine Cliff Rescue and NZOIA Training and assessing alpine qualifications.

 

Qualifications & Awards:

NZOIA Alpine 2, NZOIA Bush 2, NZOIA Alpine 1 & 2 Assessor, TE (technical expert) for Rope activities and Alpine for the NZ Adventure activities 2011 regulation scheme, Team Leader & National assessor  for NZ Land SAR Alpine Cliff Rescue, PHEC first Aid, NZ drivers licence.

Owen is a keen and dedicated outdoor profesional, he has worked in all over NZ as a contract instructor as well as working in Australia and Canada.

Peter lovers being in the outdoors,  anything from chilling out by the campfire to exploring in our forests and mountains. He started off in youth work and has moved his passion for supporting young people into the outdoors. He grow up in the Waikato and after several years in Wellington is now living in Christchurch with his wife Brynlea

Liv Walters

Liv is a passionate whitewater kayaker and outdoor enthusiast. She is currently the president of the Canterbury Uni canoe club and spend most of her free time organizing events and supporting the club. She grew up in Tasmania and started out in the outdoor industry  first in her home town before moving to Christchurch in 2018.

 

Qualifications & Awards:

Certificate 3 in outdoor recreation, Tas TAFE, NZRA Raft 2, Wilderness First Aid, NZ Drivers Licence Class 1.

Dee White

Dee is a happy adventurer from the alps to the ocean. She returned to work in the outdoors in 2018 after 5 busy years with her  young family. If you bumped into dee in the outdoors she would be Kayaking or carrying a pack in the mountains or bush. She believes the natural environment has a lot to offer with endless rewards.

Rebecca loves working in the outdoors to promote the personal and social growth of youth. Her values of personal development, health and positive impact transfer well into facilitating experiences for students to gain skills, confidence, and self-awareness. She is always happy to see a group have a lightbulb moment of learning that can be transferred back into their lives at home or school.

Kieran Mckay

Kieran is one of  New Zealand’s most prolific and well-known caver. He has some remarkable achievements to his name including discovering the deepest cave system in the southern hemisphere. Kieran has more than 30 years experience in the New Zealand outdoors.

Martin has 24 years of secondary teaching experience, with a special interest in outdoor and sustainability education which he has taught the last 13 years. He especially enjoys fostering in others a connection with an appreciation of the natural world through adventure in the outdoors.
